This cooler kit is ideal for track cars which need lots of extra cooling, road going NA cars that have been fitted with a turbo or drift cars which spend lots of time at high RPM with very little front end air flow.

Selecting a cooler size
The bigger the cooler the more oil it adds to the total volume in the engine and the larger the surface area for cooling so put simply the bigger the cooler the more heat it can dissipate. If you choose to have the thermostatic option then choosing the size of the cooler to prevent over cooling isn’t so important. However if you are not using a thermostat then it is important to choose a cooler that is not too big for the application and leads to over cooling.
Sandwich or Relocation?
A sandwich plate fits under the oil filter on the engine and diverts the oil through the cooler whereas a relocation kit allows you to remove the filter from the current location and mount it elsewhere in the engine bay. This can be particularly benificial on engines like the SR20 or the MX-5’s where the filters are in a very difficult place to access.
Thermostatic?
The thermostatic option is available for both the sandwich plate type and the relocation type. The thermostat doesn’t open until the oil is hot and the cooler is required preventing over cooling the engine oil. This makes it an excellent option for cars that are not always driven in the same way.
Further Info
Once most oil gets over 300 degrees F it begins to loose it’s lubricating properties, this causes excessive engine wear and will eventually lead to engine failure. This cooler will help to prevent this problem. This cooler does not feature a thermostat and overcooling oil can also cause problems so it is best practice to fit an oil temp gauge to be sure, the sandwich plate in this kit has 2 x 1/8″ NPT ports which allows you to fit oil temp or/and oil pressure gauges. Blanking plugs are supplied if required.
With varying modifications to vehicles it is recommended that you have enough space to get the sandwich plate under the oil filter and the space to get the two fittings in. There are 6 fittings supplied but you will only require 4, supplying more than required just gives that extra flexibility when it comes to fitting.
The kit comes with an optional HKS oil filter to make sure you get the best filtration possible. It will also work with your standard oil filter in most applications.
With 4m of black nylon braided hose supplied in the kit that can be cut to length this is suitable for even the most complex installs, you will need an angle grinder or similar with a cutting disc to cut the hose to the desired length. If you have not fitted the aeroquip type fittings before it is probably a good idea to watch a Youtube video or two before attempting to fit them to the hose.
Cooler mounting brackets are not supplied with this cooler kit.
