This helps dissipate more heat, but non-thermostatic setups should be sized carefully to avoid over-cooling during low-load or cold operation.</p><h3>Sandwich or relocation?</h3><p>A sandwich plate fits at the engine oil-filter position and routes oil through the cooler. A relocation kit allows the oil filter to be mounted elsewhere, which can improve access and packaging on tighter engine bays.</p><h3>Thermostatic?</h3><p>The thermostatic option helps prevent over-cooling by opening the cooler circuit only once oil temperature has risen.
